Or Shalom – Your Jewish home in London, Ontario
Our beautiful Synagogue evokes memories of yesteryear and provides a peaceful and traditional environment for prayer, reflection and celebration. Our Shabbat service is a balance of chanting in Hebrew, English explanations and a thought-provoking sermon. No one is left out… the children are encouraged to take part in the blessing of the wine and challah at the end of the service.
Services are traditional, egalitarian, and lay-led. We welcome the participation of all our members in whatever capacity they feel comfortable, including leading services, chanting a Haftarah, or receiving an aliyah.
Our Shabbat services begin at 9:30 a.m. Shabbat services include a Junior Congregation program for children ages 6 to 12, held in the library from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. On Shabbat we use Siddur Sim Shalom and follow the Triennial Torah reading cycle of the United Synagogue.
Morning minyan is held on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. and Mondays at 7:15 a.m., followed by a light breakfast. Each Sunday after morning minyan, join the Rabbi for text study. Come for services, stay for breakfast, schmooze a little and learn a little.
The Rabbi or any of the officers will be more than happy to assist you in whatever way they can. Or Shalom is a user-friendly shul and we all are all very approachable and eager to meet you.
